How much does pizzavan hire cost?

The short answer: pizza van hire starts from £12 per head and can be more depending on the event. That price includes everything, from travel and set-up to service and the clean-up afterwards. Your guest count, your date, your distance and your timings decide the rest. Here's how the pricing actually works, from the caterer's side of the counter.

You pay per pizza, not per head

Most event catering is priced per head. Pizza van hire is really priced per pizza, and that difference works in your favour. Each pizza is a proper 10-inch, made fresh to order in 90 seconds at 500°C, and for smaller gatherings one per person is the right amount.

As numbers climb, we'll usually recommend booking fewer pizzas than you have guests, not more. A few people won't eat, some will share, and a handful will come back for seconds. Across real events the reliable range is pizzas for around 75 to 90% of your guest list, and it's our job to talk you down to the right figure, because you shouldn't pay for pizzas that never leave the oven. Our guide to how many pizzas you need walks the numbers through in detail.

Typical price bands

These are honest planning ranges, not quotes. Every figure starts from £12 per head and assumes roughly one pizza per person, adjusted down as the crowd grows.

What the price includes

A pizza van quote is closer to all-inclusive than most catering. Ours covers the travel, the full set-up, an experienced team cooking and serving throughout, and everything food-related on the day: plates, napkins, sauces and takeaway boxes for any leftovers. We handle the rubbish and leave the space as we found it.

We're fully self-sufficient too, so there's nothing to arrange on your side. No power, no water, no kitchen access. We arrive around an hour before serving to set up, then your guests come to the counter as and when they're ready and every pizza is made fresh to order.

What moves the price up or down

Guest numbers. The biggest lever by far. More guests means more pizzas, and larger events earn our keenest per-pizza rates.

Date and timing. Summer weekends are our busiest slots, and minimum spends apply on peak summer Saturdays. Lunchtime and evening services are priced differently too, so tell us your timings when you enquire.

Distance. We're based in Cheltenham and cover a 50-mile radius across Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds and the South West. Travel is included in your quote, not added as a surprise later.

Extras. Cheesy garlic breads, salads and dessert pizzas can be added to any booking and move the total in proportion. They're optional, and plenty of events keep it simple with just the pizzas.

The extras system that protects your budget

Here's the part most people don't expect. When we recommend booking fewer pizzas than your guest count, we don't leave you exposed if your crowd turns out hungry. We bring extras with us on the day. If they get used, we simply add them to the final bill. If not, no problem at all, and you pay nothing for them.

That means you get the safety of the higher number while only ever paying for what's eaten. We'd rather quote you a realistic figure and flex on the night than pad the price up front.

On a smaller budget? Hire the oven, not the team

For small gatherings, full-service catering can be more than the event needs. Our DIY Pizza Experience is the budget-friendly route: we provide a wood-fired oven, paddles and our pre-rolled, part-baked pizza bases, and your guests make and cook their own. Oven rental is £300, it suits gatherings of up to 30 guests, and the pizza-making becomes part of the entertainment.

How to get your exact number

Quotes are individual because events are. To price yours properly we need the date, the location, your best guess at guest numbers, your timings, anything you'd like beyond pizzas, and any dietary requirements. Send that through and you'll usually have a personalised quote within a few hours.

If the numbers work, a 25% deposit secures your date in the diary. We'd recommend booking at least six weeks ahead, and earlier for summer weekends, which fill fastest. Pricing a wedding? Our guide to pizza as wedding food covers timings and evening service in detail.

Cost questions, answered

How much does pizza catering cost per person?

Our pizza catering starts from £12 per head, and can be more depending on your event — guest numbers, distance, date and service length all shape the final figure. We recommend approximately one pizza per person, though for larger events we often suggest slightly fewer as not everyone eats, some share, and some have more than one. Contact us with your event details for an accurate quote.

What areas do you cover for pizza catering?

We cover a 50-mile radius across South West England and the Cotswolds, including Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Bristol, Bath, Oxford, Swindon, Bourton-on-the-Water, Wiltshire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, get in touch and we'll let you know.

Do you provide everything for the catering?

Yes — we worry about everything food-related. This includes all food preparation, cooking, service materials such as plates, napkins, and sauces, as well as rubbish disposal and cleanup. You just provide the space.
