Step one: pin down the basics
Every pizza van quote is built from the same handful of facts: the date, the location, your best guess at guest numbers, your timings, and any dietary requirements. You don't need exact numbers to enquire. A rough headcount is enough for a realistic price, and the final figure firms up as your plans do.
If you're not sure how many pizzas that headcount translates to, our guide to how many pizzas you need does the arithmetic, and the honest answer is usually fewer than you think.
Step two: check the operator properly
Anyone can photograph a pizza. Before you book a van for the biggest day of your year, ask for three things. First, a food hygiene rating: every legitimate caterer is inspected and rated by their local authority, and you can look any business up on the Food Standards Agency website. Ours is 5 stars, the top rating. Second, public liability insurance: venues often require proof of it, and a professional operator will hand over certificates and risk assessments without any fuss. Third, reviews with names and events attached, not just a star number.
It's also worth asking how they handle weather. Our setup is weather resilient and we cook through most conditions. We're a British business, rain doesn't scare us.

Step three: understand what the price includes
A good pizza van quote is close to all-inclusive. Ours covers travel, the full set-up, an experienced team cooking and serving throughout, plates, napkins and sauces, and the clean-up afterwards. We're fully self-sufficient too: no power, no water and no kitchen access needed, which is why a garden, a field or a car park all work as venues.
Pricing starts from £12 per head and moves with guest numbers, distance, date and timings. The full breakdown lives in our guide to pizza van hire costs and on the pricing page. If a quote you get elsewhere looks cheap, check what's been left out. Travel charges and staffing added later are the usual culprits.
Step four: book early, especially for summer
Pizza vans are a small-team business, and each van can only be in one garden at a time. We'd recommend booking at least six weeks ahead, and earlier for summer weekends, which fill fastest. Popular dates can book up months in advance.
Once the numbers work, a 25% deposit secures your date. The balance and the practical details, access, parking and serving times, get settled closer to the day. Our booking policy spells all of that out in plain English.
What happens on the day
We arrive around an hour before serving to set up the oven. Once we're ready, your guests come to the counter whenever they're hungry and order from the menu. Every pizza is made fresh to order in 90 seconds at 500°C. When the last slice is gone we pack down, take the rubbish with us and leave the space as we found it.
Whatever the occasion, there's a service shape to fit it. Have a look at what we cater, from weddings and corporate events to private parties, or just tell us what you're planning and we'll suggest the right fit.
